The Wanted 18 is a part interview, part stop-motion animated film that tells the true life story of young Palestinians resisting Israeli occupation during the First Intifada (1989). A collective farm in a small town in the Occupied West Bank purchases 18 cows in order to produce milk independent of Israeli control. In doing so, the town seeks to boycott Israeli products and become more self-sufficient. However, once Israel realizes this plan, they send in their military and declare the collective farm “a threat to the national security of the state of Israel.”
Released in 2014, The Wanted 18 was nominated for “Best Documentary Film” in seven international film festivals, winning five times. Watch the trailer here.
