Prints for Palestine
Prints for Palestine is a mutual aid effort and ongoing project led by Locals for Liberation, MeadorMade Creative, and Gasoline Press. Our goal is to fund Palestinians directly suffering from the ongoing genocide. The cost of flour nears $1,000 per bag in Gaza. The 25 prints we sell for the artist and their family month aims to offset this astronomical cost and prevent starvation. This page will feature newly printed works from Palestinian and SWANA artists. Prints are available locally at limited Louisville locations to be announced soon. You may purchase a print online from us or donate to the campaign below.
Each physical location in Louisville will only carry five copies of each print, while 25 are offered on this website, so act fast to get yours!
We are looking for sponsors to cover the cost of prints. Without a sponsor, we will withhold $200 of donations to fund next month's project. To learn more about the project or to sponsor prints for a new artist, please email us.
Meet our first artist, Salwa.
"Hello everyone, my name is Salwa. I am a 21-year-old girl from Gaza, studying business administration at the Islamic University, with a deep love for Art. I once lived a peaceful and joyful life surrounded by my family and friends, but after October 7, 2023, everything changed dramatically.
On the third day of the Israeli aggression, my family and I were forcibly displaced from our home when white phosphorus, a substance banned internationally, was dropped on our roof. As unarmed civilians, we fled, and our home was destroyed by naval shells shortly after.
We have been displaced ten times, each move taking us to places unfit for living, devoid of even the most basic necessities. This has occurred amidst a surge of diseases like hepatitis and polio, with no access to essential medications or preventive supplies.
The occupation has not only devastated my home and caused the tragic loss of my aunt and her daughter, but it also claimed my grandfather's life due to the unavailability of necessary medical treatment amid closed borders and overcrowded hospitals. They have obliterated my university, my future, and my dreams, and even assassinated several of my classmates and teachers.
This is just a glimpse of my suffering. I earnestly seek assistance to reclaim even a fragment of my former life and continue my studies to fulfill my dreams before it's too late.
With all my love and gratitude."
